IN regards to IPYS working with IP2.0... it DOES work.  The only IPY I have installed on my system is 2.0, and I can use IPYS with the following caveats: not all code completion works, and there is still a thorny spaces vs. tabs issue.  But I can build projects, and run and debug them.  I downloaded IronPython Studio "integrated" edition and installed it to my existing Visual Studio Professional instance.

If you are using IPYS with IPY 2.0, and you run into thorny space vs tabs issues, then you should install Eclipse and Eclipse PyDev.  Make your Eclipse workspace be this directory:

c:\documents and settings\your.username\my documents\visual studio 2008\Projects

Any IPY projects you have under Visual Studio will be visible from within Eclipse.  You can work out the space vs. tabs issue there (since Eclipse works correctly) and then debug with IPYS.
